EMERALD LABASHEEDA ARCHTOP - A REVIEW BY KIERAN HEHIR, IRELAND
This new Emerald Labasheeda banjo has a modern almost bold like look to it which is very striking and appealing. Its biggest charm is its tone, which I feel is like blending an older American flavoured banjo(golden, warm - crisp like tone) with a newly built maple banjo(bright, sharp and resonating tone). It is this unique tone combination that makes the banjo sound different to others and suitable for playing in both noisy and quiet environments. This banjo could be categorised as being both, a session and a recording instrument..
The workmanship in this banjo is fantastic. It is easy to play and well-balanced. The banjo neck feels slim and gives plenty of feedback. It has loads of volume and is very well-built, allowing the player to set up the banjo to their liking.
Overall, I would really highly recommend this banjo. Its maker Graham is a true gentleman and having played this Labasheeda for a number of weeks, I can conclude that his obsession with banjos has led to one seriously powerful instrument which both banjo players and banjo enthusiasts alike, will treasure.
Huge amounts of design research,
testing and experimentation have resulted in this extraordinary archtop tenor
banjo which is being produced for expert banjo players or those aspiring to
become experts. It is a superb archtop tenor banjo with as much or as little
volume as you want, and is equal in quality and volume of sound and sensitivity
to only the very best and most expensive banjos. The visual impact of this banjo
is huge, it is created in our unique“simply beautiful” style.

Great overall volume means that the player can use a softer pic grip and play in a more relaxed fashion.
I really believe this banjo will circulate trad music for many years, and with its unique tone and eye catching appearance, it really is a must and will compete with any high performance banjo for a very reasonable price.
Note : This banjo has a tensionator tail piece fitted as standard. Not shown in the pictures.
0ur in depth researches leading to the creation of this banjo have resulted in many attempts to create the ultimate sound and that experimentation leads us to believe that we have now achieved that objective with our Labasheeda banjo.
A series of "tone holes" have been incorporated into the rear of the body to create the maximum reflective surface associated with the air chamber in the manner of some of the world's great antique banjos.
The Emerald Labasheeda archtop is, we believe the ultimate in banjo technology, the developments incorporated within this model have created the ultimate sound quality and sensitivity for both player and listener alike. We think our pre-build endeavours in research and application have paid maximum dividends and any customer who takes this beautiful banjo for their own will surely not be dissappointed.
